(Updated for the new Blogger interface)
For a long time now, I have struggled with the fact that you can't rotate pictures in Blogger. Sometimes my pictures would show up turned to the side for no reason and nothing I have tried would work. So in the past I would either leave out that photo or crop it and try uploading it again.
| Oh No! |
1. Upload the pictures in blogger like you normally would. When you see that they will be crooked, do not add them to your post yet.
2. Go to your Picasa Web Album. The easiest way to do this is to go to https://picasaweb.google.com/home. If you are signed into your google/gmail/blogger account, then you will already be signed into Picasa Web and all of the pictures you have ever uploaded to your blog will be sitting there waiting for you.
3. Find the picture you want to rotate. Click on it. Now above the picture there is a button that says Actions. Click on it, a menu will scroll down, and then choose the option Edit in Creative Kit.
4. Rotate the picture. Save to your album. Choose the option to replace the picture.
(Sometimes the picture is already right side up at this point. Who knows why that is. If that is the case make some small change to the picture or rotate it and then rotate it back so that you can save the new right-side-up picture)
5. Now go back to your post. Click on INSERT IMAGE. On the left choose to add image from Picasa Web Album. At first the thumbnails still seemed to be sideways, but when I added the pictures to my blog they were right side up.

Thank you for the tips. This happens to me all the time so this is so nice to know. Thank you so much for sharing and for linking up to Show and Share #2. I hope you are having fun at the party :)

Wow, what a pain! Major "minus" for blogger. Thanks for clearing this up for me!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so mauch for helping me rotate pictures! Usually I use Live Writer, but this time I was going to add a photo in an existing post, and this problem came. I had to open the picture by clicking "Edit in Creative Kit" under "Actions". When I opened the Creative Kit, the picture wasn't wrong way any more, but then I rotated it to the side and then back up again, and I was able to save. After this, I did as you wrote, and it worked! Again, thank you so much!

Hi, I tried what you said to do but it I couldnt see the edit button etc but I've played around with it and got it sorted, I don't think I read your instructions properly, or missunderstood maybe, anyway, Ive now managed to rotate the pics successfully so thank you ever so much for taking the time to find out how to do it and share that knowledge with the rest of us, what a performance!! the only other thing I can't figure out is how do I get my pics from my pics to picassa????? HELP!!
ReplyDeletemany many thanks
Sandie xx
Thanks for reminding me Annwes and Sandie. Picnik recently went away and I needed to update my tutorial for the new way (which I did). Click on actions then edit in creative kit.
DeleteThere are 2 ways to get your pictures from your computer to picasa.
1. Whenever you upload a picture on blogger, whether or not you end out using that picture in a post, it automatically is uploaded to your picasa web album.
2. Go to your picasa web album. Near the top of the page there is a button that says UPLOAD. Click on it and continue to add pictures from your computer.
I hope this helped! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Thank you! This helps a lot! I just started my own blog and was having trouble rotating the pics!
