Splatter Paint Wall Art (Craft Stash Bash #8 – Life as a Thrifter)

June 14, 2012 by Rachel 5 Comments

Welcome Holly from Life as a Thrifter!
Hello! I’m Holly from Life as a Thrifter!
and I’m thrilled to be sharing a craft from MY stash today!

Around my house I use A LOT of plywood. It’s super cheap, and even better, your home improvement store will cut it down to whatever size you want for free! One piece will easily make several projects. This particular piece was left over from various other projects.

I started by painting it white.

Next, I sketched my design and firmly applied painters tape on the spots I wanted to stay white.

(Go back and press the edges down as hard as you can.)

Then, I got out a few of my favorite paint colors from my collection of craft paints…

…and started splattering!

Finally, I took off the painters tape.
(Note: If bleeding should occur, use a damp paper towel to wipe/scrape off the paint. A Magic Eraser works well, too.)

Thanks so much Rachel for inviting me to share today!

I really love this! It's such a great idea because the only limit to what you create is your imagination!

Whoa that is crazy great – and i gleaned from that a great way to make some new art for my kitchen. I have this great mid-century modern home I love (since Sept) BUT – BUT the kitchen is odd. I am working on it a bit at a time and that speckle art would go great. I'll let you know how it goes. (this is both for Rachel and Holly) I too am a 'thrifter'! (great term)
