Lets Make a Mess

Raising a Little Book Lover

September 11, 2014 by Rachel 11 Comments

Thanks Gymboree for sponsoring this post.
Creative and imaginative books are such an important part of childhood. I still remember reading The Very Hungry Caterpillar when I was a little kid, and learning about how Eric Carle created his beautiful artwork. I want my kids to not just enjoy books, but also to be excited and inspired by them.
…and it’s never too early to start!
By the way, how cute are these The Very Hungry Caterpillar pajamas from Gymboree?

Oliver is 5 months old now, and he is really starting to enjoy reading books. He especially loves bright and bold pictures, and turning the pages himself. Benjamin (5) and Lyla (3) LOVE picking out books and reading them to their baby brother, and so many Eric Carle books are our favorites.

Benjamin and Lyla especially love The Grouchy Ladybug. Benjamin pretty much has the whole books memorized, and runs around the house saying, “Hey you, wanna fight? No, you’re not big enough!” Benjamin also really loves “Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What Do You Hear?” which is why I bought him a pair of the Eric Carle Polar Bear pajamas at Gymboree. The PJs go up to a size 6 in store, and there are even adult sizes available online. There is something so exciting about seeing your favorite books come to life, and it is so fun to pair bedtime stories with bedtime jammies.

Be sure to check out the limited edition Eric Carle inspired pajamas and shirts at Gymboree!

While you’re there, check out the fun contest that your kids can enter themselves (with your help), get the free Eric Carle app, and download and print the awesome Eric Carle free printable coloring and activity sheets.

What is your favorite Eric Carle book? Which pajamas would you choose?
