Blue Color Study

May 23, 2015 by Rachel Leave a Comment

I just love creating these color study posts for I Spy DIY (P.S. Stop by to check out the large exclusive collection I put together). Today I’m sharing my very favorite color, blue. I especially love the way that different shades of blue look together, and it reminds me of the beautiful ocean and the sky. Follow along with me on Instagram for more colorful inspiration.

I’ve noticed that whenever I’m drawing, or painting, or making, blue is usually the first color I reach for. It’s gotten to the point where the shades of blue on my watercolors set are much lower than all of the other colors. And of course when I recently shared a tutorial for fun polka dot watercolor art, I chose to paint with shades of blue.

This next picture in this blue color study is called: Ode to My Circle Punch. Do you have any craft supplies that are surprisingly useful? Maybe something you don’t think about very often, but you find yourself using all of the time? That’s exactly how I feel about my little blue circle punch. I’ve used it for small parts of so many different projects, and it’s so fun and easy to use.

One of the things I’ve learned from taking these color study pictures is to notice things that are seemingly ordinary and boring. I have started to naturally categorize and organize everything by color, and find beauty in some of the little things in life.

Be sure to share your colorful snaps with us on Instagram with #ISpyDIYcolor and #lacolorstudies
