10 Signs Lyla is ALL girl

10 Signs Lyla is ALL girl

1. She wears size 3 diapers, but she tells her friends she is a size 2. 2. She feels naked if she leaves home without her purse. 3. She can’t crawl yet, and she desperately wants to. Clearly, she thinks, this is her mother’s fault. 4. When she’s having a bad hair day, she pulls it up and blames the Florida humidity. 5. She loves her mother but is 100%

Turn baby scribbles into bows (Gift Bow Tutorial)

Benjamin and Lyla both love to color, but right now all they do is scribble. I have stacks of sheets that Benjamin has colored all over and I was hoping to do something fun with them. I saw this tutorial at Smile Monsters for making your own paper gift bows and I immediately wanted to turn the scribbles into bows. These are such a great idea for wrapping presents (especially

Somewhere over the…

Somewhere over the…

I love this song. Somewhere over the rainbow, blue birds fly. I like the childish look of this. You could also print the blank one and have your child draw a picture of a rainbow in the first blank and pictures of a few blue birds in the second. This is a fun way to frame and keep your child’s drawings.

I heart Chevron

I heart Chevron

There are so many different ways to incorporate chevron and zigzag stripes in your home. Here are a few of my favorites.  1. Urban Fringe (Etsy) – gray chevron stripe felt flower pillow cover 2. Apartment Therapy – chevron kitchen tiles 3. Urban Outfitters – “Ziggy Chair” 4. Aura Home – Inka Fig bed quilt cover 5. West Elm – tribal bath mat 6. Shades of Light – chevron drum

(Updated for the new Blogger interface) For a long time now, I have struggled with the fact that you can’t rotate pictures in Blogger. Sometimes my pictures would show up turned to the side for no reason and nothing I have tried would work. So in the past I would either leave out that photo or crop it and try uploading it again. Oh No! Here’s one way to fix

Wooden Crayon Peg Board

Wooden Crayon Peg Board

I was inspired to make this peg board for Benjamin based on three things. 1. This beautiful colored pencil holder from Strawberry Chic. I love the rustic look of this one. 2. A couple months ago we went out to eat and Benjamin got his hands on one of these peg boards. He loved it so much and just kept playing with it. I thought it would be fun to

Yarn + Wire Hanger = Bird

Yarn + Wire Hanger = Bird

I recently came across this beautiful LOVE on Pinterest that was made using wire (or a wire hanger) and some thick yarn. I thought it would be fun to take this same idea and make a bird for Lyla’s nursery. See the full project and tutorial @ Family Chic This entire project took about 10 minutes and I only used things that I already had around the house: a wire

Fun Clear Bean Bags

Fun Clear Bean Bags

I thought it would be fun to make some clear bean bags for Benjamin to play with so that he could see all of the different (not baby-safe) objects inside. These were really easy to make and it was a lot of fun to pick out different things to go inside of the bean bags. Since there are small parts that could come loose and become choking hazards, I would
