Fabric Napkin Rings (Craft Stash Bash #9 – Vixen Made)

June 18, 2012 by Rachel 3 Comments

Welcome Victoria from vixenMade!

Hey everyone!  I’m so thrilled to be here today.

My name is Victoria and I’m the ‘vixen’ of vixenMade.  As a mom of 3, I’m always busy, but I always seem to make time for my crafting, sewing and DIYing.
Since my fabric stash keeps growing, I decided to tackle some of it and create some fabric napkin holders.
I never buy them because I’m cheap, so I figured I’d make some to match the colors in my kitchen.  They’re so easy, I think I may make some fun colorful ones for summer, too.
Anyways, here’s what I did:

Find some fabric scraps in the colors you like.
Cut two pieces of fabric measuring 3 x 8 inches.

Sandwich them together, with the right sides facing in, and pin together.

Sew around the perimeter using a 1/4 inch seam allowance, leaving one end open.

Once you’ve done that, trim any excess and clip your corners.

Now you can flip it right side out like so.

Press it with an iron.

Flip the opening in and press again.

Pin your opening and sew it shut while sewing around the edges of your napkin ring.

Now, you can add the velcro.  (Yes, velcro.  I don’t get along with buttons and button holes.  But if you do, by all means, go that route!).

Pin your velcro pieces on, being sure the pieces are on each side of the napkin ring.

Sew them on.
And that’s all there is to it!

Make some more and enjoy!

So easy, right!?

I wanted them to be simple, but next time, I’ll definitely have to try adding some embellishments or ribbon.
After all.. I need to tackle that stash, too.

Hope you get to make some too!

Thanks for having me, Rachel!!
