Scrappy Ruffle Petal Headband (Craft Stash Bash #6 – The Little Giggler)

June 12, 2012 by Rachel 4 Comments

Welcome Amanda from The Little Giggler!
Hi Lines Across readers!  My name is Amanda and I blog over at The Little Giggler.  I spend my days chasing around my daughter (the little giggler) and my nights cuddling with my hubby!  I love sewing, crafting, and getting down and dirty with DIY projects!

That’s me!

I’m so excited to be participating in Rachel’s Craft Stash Bash!  I definitely have a HUGE craft stash that seems to keep growing and growing.  Today I’m going to share a fun way to turn a couple of scraps into a cute headband.

I’m calling it The Scrappy Ruffle Petal Headband.

Here’s what you’ll need:

Photobucket

Cut up your scraps into the following measurements.  The elastic depends on head size.

Photobucket

Start by sewing the ends of your elastic to the ends of your felt to make a headband.  Try this on your little one before moving forward to ensure a good fit.

Photobucket

Grab the ruffle piece and sew directly down the middle with your largest straight stitch.  Don’t backstitch.

Photobucket

Pull the thread to scrunch the ruffle to the size of the felt.

Photobucket

Pin the ruffle onto the felt strip.

Photobucket

Sew directly over your previous stitch.

Photobucket

Your headband will look like this. Cute right?  You can stop now if you just want a ruffle.

Photobucket

Now onto the petals.  Grab a circle.  Scrunch it up as shown.  Stitch the bottom a few times.

Photobucket

Open the circle and poke your needle through the middle.  Add a button to the middle.

Photobucket

Now, without ever having to re-thread your needle sew it to the ruffle and tie it off.  Repeat this two more times.

Photobucket

And there you have The Scrappy Ruffle Petal Headband.  Say that three times fast.  You can find some of my other scrappy projects here and here.

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial!  Stop by The Little Giggler for lots more.  Thank you so much to Rachel for letting me participate in this awesome “Craft Stash Bash”!

Hi! I found your link on the Cherished Bliss Linky party & I'm totally loving this headband! I have a 2y/o who's obsessed with "habans" and this will be perfect to add to her collection!

    Thanks for sharing!
