Lets Make a Mess

Football Onesie

September 10, 2011 by Rachel 46 Comments

Simple DIY Football Onesie
DIY Football Onesie

It is very easy to make your own football onesie. All you need is a brown onesie (Hobby Lobby was the only place where I could find one), some white or ivory felt, and a needle and thread (or sewing machine). I also used an embroidery hoop to make it easier, but it was not necessary.

Cut one long thin rectangle of felt. Sew it to the onesie using aΒ back stitch. Cut 5 smaller felt rectangles and sew them on. I intentionally make the strips slightly different sizes and sewed them at slightly different angles.

Halloween costume idea: Benjamin as a football player and Lyla as a football.

Note: Sewing the felt on will make for a sturdy and more secure onesie. However (especially if you’re only planning on having your baby wear this once or twice) you can use a hot glue gun or fabric glue to attach the felt and save a lot of time.

I love this idea. I will have to make one for Jaye for the football season, although she'll be a scrawny football.

I love Halloween combo costumes where different people play different parts that go together. I've been thinking of doing Jaye as a Chipotle burrito!

So adorable. My little guys are basically out of onsie range but this would make an adorable t-shirt as well. My husband is a HUGE football fan and would just love to see his little guys in a shirt like this.
