Apple Coloring Page – Free Printable

September 20, 2016 by Rachel 2 Comments

If you love the adult coloring trend as much as I do, you’ll be thrilled to download and color this free printable apple coloring page. It was hand drawn by the talented Sam of Thrive 360 Living. You can follow her on Instagram for fun colorful pictures and you can also check out her ETSY shop to download more coloring pages.

My daughter and I printed out one for each of us and had so much fun coloring together this weekend. She really loved all of the intricate details and very carefully colored them all in. We both ended out using different kinds of markers for our coloring sheets, but if you’re interested in investing in some nicer colored pencils, you can read my colored pencil guide here.

Normally when I’m coloring in an adult coloring book I got at the store, I absolutely love the Stabilo Point 68 Pens. The colors are gorgeous, they’re easy to hold, and they are small enough to get the fine details but large enough to cover a bigger area. I have my eye on the 50 color set, because you can never have enough colors!

However, as much as I normally love these pens, when you use them on a coloring page that you printed on a typical ink jet printer, they mix a little bit with the black lines. I still used them on a few of the areas in the apple that I colored, but they were slightly harder to use. What I found is that using alcohol based pens worked extremely well with the printed sheet. You could color right over the black lines and it didn’t mix or bleed at all. Plus you end out getting the smoothest looking colors. They’re just fun to use! The one thing about them is that they do bleed straight through the paper. They’re designed to do that for a number of reasons, but you certainly won’t be able to color both sides of the paper. I have just a few colors of the Prismacolor Premier Markers and they are seriously amazing! You can find a great deal for them on Amazon – this 24 pack is a great price! They usually go for about $6 each at the art store. And if you’re obsessed with picking out colors like I am, you can pick out any color you can imagine at Dick Blick, which is basically my favorite place to shop these days. The Winsor & Newton ProMarkers are also amazing but slightly more expensive. And the Copic markers are probably the most expensive, but also the highest quality of them all. You can search through all of the available colors here.

And here is the gorgeous page colored in by the artist herself. (Do you see how smooth the colors are on the Copic markers?)
