Lets Make a Mess

Dog and Cat Paper Gift Boxes

April 27, 2012 by Rachel 23 Comments

The other day I stumbled upon this great tutorial (and free template) from Curbly for a very simple gift box, and I made these out of card stock.

Immediately, when I saw these with the way the little tabs stick up, they reminded me of little animals. So I decided to turn a couple of them into a dog and a cat.

I used the scraps of card stock leftover from the template to cut out little arms and tails for the dog and cat. I attached everything with a glue stick. I added little eyes, paper noses, and details with an ultra fine sharpie. You could have fun and decorate these boxes as almost any animal. They are such a fun way to give a small gift, gift card, or party favor to kids, or grown-up animal lovers like me.

How to make the ears and tongue:

When cutting out the template for the cat and dog boxes, I drew new lines over the tabs (make them longer, NOT wider), in the shape of dog and cat ears. I used red washi tape for the insides of the ears and for the dog’s tongue. These gift boxes are also reusable.

Your gift boxes are adorable BUT the way you have them posed is even cuter.

really love your boxes, I recently made one for my boyfriend. I made it a black cat, and inside I stuck spring up "fireworks" and "balloons". Turned out great!! Thanks so much for the inspiration! 🙂 x

puppy love differs from correct enjoy in the feeling of psychological maturation and experience. Puppy love is more of a surface-level infatuation or unrequited break, while correct enjoy is a further psychological need for connecting with someone else on numerous levels. While an infatuation or puppy love could ultimately evolve in to correct enjoy as time continues, it usually ends out as different intimate alternatives emerge.

Thanks for letting me know! I just went through and checked and the original template from Curbly was removed at some point. I’ll try to create a new template, but it may take me a little while. Also a doggie gift box would be so cute for a dog party! Thanks again for letting me know and sorry for the inconvenience!
